The Housing Corporation allocates funding for social housing in England and determines the scheme development standards for Housing Associations. The standards include requirements for environmental and security elements. Secured by Design is referenced in the Scheme Development Standards as a test of compliance for security.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has co-operated in the establishment of the Accordant Architects Practise Scheme for training architects in the principles of designing against crime. The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) champions architecture in England, promoting high standards in the design of buildings and the space between them. Board members are appointed by the Secretary of State and it has close links to the Department for Culture, Media & Sport and also the ODPM in the promotion of urban design.
