Bradbury Group moves into £8m production facility to meet growing demand for its security solutions
Steel door and security solutions manufacturer, Bradbury Group, which includes Secured by Design member company Bradbury Security, has announced it has centralised all its operations within Scunthorpe into a single state-of-the-art £8 million production facility.
The company’s move to the Foxhills Industrial Estate marks an exciting new future for the business, which had grown into seven separate locations on the Queensway Industrial Estate.
The company’s investment in the new 135,000 square foot production facility will enable it to streamline production processes to keep up with increasing demand.
New machinery like the multi-million pound Salvagnini punch form line and bespoke Amber paint line will reduce the amount of time it takes to manufacture a door.
In 2017 and 2018, the company produced circa 17,000 steel doors, which have been installed around the world. However, with their increase in scale and capability, they can now produce 100 doors in a single day – so are looking forward to even better results during 2019.
With the ability to manufacture such a large number of doorsets comes the requirement for vast storage space. At their new site, they can store up to 4,000 finished units – ten times more than previously.
Having undertaken a full renovation, the building even includes a cashless canteen and the development of an onsite gym for employees.
Managing Director, Tim Strawson, said: “This investment marks the start of a new journey for Bradbury Group. We are aiming high, with the aspiration to be the best and most trusted steel door manufacturer in the world. We’ve invested in infrastructure, machinery and our people and we are very proud to continue the company’s growth in our home town of Scunthorpe.”
Over the past 27 years, Bradbury Group has grown to have four business divisions with more than 200 employees.
Bradbury Security, which specialises in the manufacture of steel doors, is the primary division within the Group.
It offers an extensive series of steel personnel, substation and fire exit doors that are all bespoke-engineered in-house, allowing doors to be configured to suit a range of applications. Providing certified solutions for security, fire, flood and acoustic requirements, Bradbury Security products have been third-party tested and accredited.
Bradbury Security’s extensive product portfolio also includes a range of high security bar sets, and collapsible crowd control gates. Offering a comprehensive service, Bradbury Security can provide a fully co-ordinated design, production and installation package.
Bradbury Security has a total of 18 products accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative, including security doorsets, grilles, vaults and security cages.
SBD Development Officer, Doug Skins, said: “We have enjoyed a long association with Bradbury Security and have been delighted to see the company’s growth over recent years. By manufacturing a high quality range of security-related products, this company is making a huge contribution towards delivering safer places and communities. We wish them every success with their new production facility.”
