Door and window company Aston Lynch joins SBD with plans to expand its range

A door and window company that only launched in May this year has joined Secured by Design (SDB), the national police crime prevention initiative.

Aston Lynch Building Supplies, of Wenlock Road, London, have had three of their doors and five of their windows – all PVC-U – certified to PAS 24 standards offering security suitable for domestic use and other buildings exposed to comparable risk.

One of their doors is a liniar modlok bi-folding door system. The other two are liniar chamfered sculptured residential door systems – one single leaf and the other double leaf. Their window system range includes liniar casement, flush sash, fixed, multilight and tilt and turn.

The company has plans to expand its range of doors.

Their management team reported: “We launched our business only recently but were keen to join Secured by Design to offer our customers products that are not only attractive but also robust. Being robust means they will last longer as well as act as a deterrent to opportunist burglars.”

SBD Development Officer, Lyn Poole, said: “We are delighted to have Aston Lynch Building Supplies on board and we look forward to working with them as they expand their range of products.”

SBD is the only route for companies to obtain Police Preferred Specification status. To achieve this accreditation, companies need certification from an independent third-party UK Accreditation Service accredited body, which requires regular production audits to ensure consistent quality over time – going beyond the one-off testing required to meet Part Q (Security – Dwellings) of the Building Regulations. We work closely with UK Police Forces and a wide range of other organisations, including National and Local Government, British and European standards authorities, the construction industry, trade associations and manufacturers to achieve sustainable reductions in crime through design and other approaches to enable people to live in a safer society.
