In March, Secured by
Design exhibited at Ecobuild to raise awareness of new research on
the Carbon Cost of Crime. Our stand was extremely busy for the
duration of the show as many visitors stopped to find out more
about the research and its significance.
SBD Operations Manager Jon
Cole comments: "Ecobuild attracted thousands of visitors each day
so it was superb for communicating the key findings from recent
research into the Carbon Cost of Crime. We were run off our feet
trying to cope with the very high level of interest in the message
that crime is a green issue. We ran out of leaflets and had to get
more."

The research, which
includes facts and figures on crime's cost to the environment,
proves that crime is an environmental issue that needs to be
acknowledged and given more weighting in the Code for Sustainable
Homes," continues Jon. "Currently crime's carbon footprint is
calculated at 11.6 million tonnes a year - 6 million directly
attributable to crime and 5.6 million attributable to the
consequences of crime."
The research shows how we
can act quickly and cost effectively to reduce the carbon cost of
crime by installing SBD products. Jon says:"Areas where SBD has
been applied are improved. This impacts significantly on people's
lives and on Britain's drive to reduce its carbon
footprint."
