Dual certified Keyguard XL sets the new standard for key safes

Solon Security has introduced the UK’s first and only dual certified key safe, attack-tested to both LPS 1175 (Issue 7) SR1 and Sold Secure Bronze.

In addition, it has received Police Preferred Specification accreditation from Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative.

Throughout Solon Security’s 23-year history, one of its core values has been to work in partnership with customers to develop and deliver products of the highest quality that meet their exact needs.

This collaborative approach to continuous improvement has been showcased clearly yet again with the launch of the UK’s first and only dual certified key safe - the Keyguard XL.

Having attained the coveted Police Preferred Specification for both internal and external use, the XL is also now the only key safe on the market to be attack-tested to both LPS 1175 (Issue 7) SR1 and Sold Secure Bronze.

LPS 1175 (Issue 7) SR1 is the newest test issue and ensures that the Keyguard XL has been tested on outdoor walls to the same security level as a domestic front door, with the Sold Secure Bronze testing then adding a whole lot more, including a three-minute attack test against power tools that occurs on an annual basis.

Key safes are an increasingly important feature of household security and assistive technology, allowing authorised access to residential properties for relatives, care workers, cleaners and, in the event of an emergency, first responders. There is also strong demand amongst businesses, such as holiday home letting agents and private landlords, which is growing year on year.

“Independent attack tests and accreditations don’t lie,” explains Mark Fleming, Solon Security’s General Manager. “As the only model to achieve dual certified status, the Keyguard XL has set the new standard for key safe security and performance. Solon is delighted to bring these new standards to our customers and their end users.”

As well as the industry-first achievement in attack-testing, the Keyguard XL has been designed with users in mind. The high visibility, 12 push-button keypad allows over 4,000 potential combinations and is complemented by an ergonomic dial and improved internal hook for hanging keys.

The weather-proof rubber cover provides year-round protection and features four ready-prepared guide holes that can be used as a drilling template, eliminating the need to hold the heavy key safe in place when marking up for installation.

Mark Fleming adds: “Ease of installation is an important factor for so many users. The template on the rear of the cover is such a simple but effective addition to the design and has received nothing but praise since introduction. The dual certified Keyguard XL’s streamlined installation process means there is no insurance requirement for certified installers or time-consuming training courses, so users can start enjoying the benefits straight away.”

Burton Safes, manufacturer of the Keyguard XL, and long-term partner of Solon Security, is delighted with the new dual certified Keyguard XL. Achieving certification at both test facilities proves this is the industry leading key safe.

The dual certified Keyguard XL key safe will be available from Solon Security from early April. Solon's contact details are below:
