Ian Firth Hardware renew with Secured by Design

Ian Firth Hardware is one of the latest companies to renew their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative.

Ian Firth started his career in hardware at the age of 15, soon progressing to being Managing Director of Cartwright Hardware in Leeds.

However, in 1982 Ian took a giant leap into the unknown and set up his own business – Ian Firth Hardware Ltd - working from his family home supplying local house builders with ironmongery.

Just a year later, the company moved to its first premises, moving again to larger premises in Batley and by 1995 the company had started selling Composite Doors.

After constant expansion over the years Ian Firth Hardware outgrew their premises in Batley and in 1996 the company moved into their current home, purpose built offices and warehouse, in Shaw Cross.

By 2007 the company’s turnover had hit over £12m a year, with their own fleet of vehicles delivering across the country every week. Unfortunately, like many suppliers to the construction industry, they were hit by the recession in 2008 but managed to rebuild on previous success which enabled them to record turnover of over £14m at the end of the decade.
