“They provide an invaluable service to both those buying and selling mobile devices, as well as law enforcement agencies” – MobiCode renew with SBD

MobiCode, who provide recycling management solutions for the pre-owned mobile phone industry, has renewed its memberships with Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative.

MobiCode was founded in 2011 by mobile industry professionals with the desire to develop products to “simplify and lower the costs and risks of recycling and increasing the sale of used devices”, thus benefiting the planet and reducing the cost of ownership.

MobiCode’s MobiCHECK range of products has been accredited by SBD, having achieved Police Preferred Specification. MobiCHECK is a solution to check whether a mobile phone is stolen before someone elects to buy or sell it. It checks the device status and history by matching the serial / MEID / ESN or IMEI number live against the company’s datasets, which include mobile networks, insurance companies, law enforcement, and other recyclers worldwide. This verifies the actual make and model of the phone and its status.

The MobiCHECK service is provided free to the Police Service.

SBD Development Officer Doug Skins said: “I am delighted that MobiCode have renewed with Secured by Design. They provide an invaluable service to both those buying and selling mobile devices, as well as law enforcement agencies who benefit from the service free”.

Paul Harris, Chief Operating Officer, MobiCode said: “We are pleased to reconfirm our excellent relationship with Secured by Design as we continue to expand our services with operators, recyclers, insurers and law enforcement agencies around the world”.
