ABL Doors & Windows achieve dual certification for fire and security on doorsets
SBD member company ABL Doors & Windows have achieved dual certification compliance for both fire and security on their SBD accredited range of secure entrance, single timber and double timber doorsets.
SBD Development Officer Lyn Poole said: “This is an excellent achievement for ABL Doors & Windows to achieve UKAS Dual Certification for fire and security for a range of SBD accredited doorsets and will open up an even wider client base for them. This standard for flat entrance doorsets has been backed by SBD after the terrible tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire and there are not many companies that have managed to gain this accreditation for their doorsets.”
Andy Williams, of ABL Doors & Windows, said: “Our expert team here are very proud of achieving this certification, it is recognition of the many years we have spent honing both our production techniques and product portfolio to give our customers and ultimately the property occupiers peace of mind that the products are both safe and secure”.
Since 2003, ABL Doors have been supplying and fitting precision-hung doorsets for housing developers, builders and regional authorities on a local and national scale, providing great value while taking the hassle out of the door fitting process, in both new-build and renovation projects.
ABL Doors was founded when Andy Williams, previously of the UK’s largest door slab manufacturer Premdor, spotted a frustration in the housing development market with the way that doors were sourced and fitted. He noticed that the existing way the UK development market worked when it came to door hanging was slow, expensive and inaccurate. Taking inspiration from continental Europe and the USA, he decided to pursue the idea of precision-hanging doors in a factory setting, and simply installing a full, pre-hung doorset, consisting of frame, slab & furniture.
This idea, which was revolutionary in the UK market, meant that ABL Doors could stock, hang, deliver & fit doors and doorsets on demand. This greatly reduced both difficulty and risk to the developer, builder or local authority, as well as saving them huge amounts on labour costs, as an ABL fitter can arrive on site with all required materials and install each precision-hung doorset in under 12 minutes.
ABL are trusted suppliers and installers of doors and doorsets to some of the biggest names in the industry, having longstanding relationships with Weston Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Belway Homes, Kier and Barratt Homes amongst others.
