Cutting edge manufacturer of anti-attack vehicle solutions, Locks 4 Vans joins Secured by Design in their bid to reduce van crime

With their distinct passion and paramount goal being to reduce van crime, Locks 4 Vans - the industry leading manufacturer and supplier of aftermarket security solutions for Light Commercial Vehicles have joined the official police security initiative, Secured by Design (SBD).

Secured by Design is owned by the UK Police Service and carries out a range of initiatives with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.

Locks 4 Vans are a cutting-edge and customer-focused manufacturer and supplier of anti-intruder and anti-attack products to protect vans from both criminal attacks and theft, supplying a wide range of locking and shielding products. Their products do not only serve as a visual deterrent, but they are real game changers in protecting vehicles from criminal attacks, offering greater peace of mind to both commercial and private vehicle owners.

Following vigorous product testing and auditing by an accredited third-party organisation, Locks 4 Vans have achieved SBD’s Police Preferred Specification (PPS) on their new and improved 'LV4 Premium Statement Lock'.

For over 30 years, Secured by Design’s product-based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification (PPS) has and continues to provide a recognised standard for all security related products that can both deter and reduce crime. SBD work alongside a range of manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and remain up to date with emerging criminal trends.

Their newly accredited L4V Premium Statement Lock mounts externally to the doors of the vehicle, providing a highly effective visual deterrent. When fitted higher on the side or back of the door, it also helps to reduce the risk of the door being bent down in the event of an attack.

Locks 4 Vans took their existing, best-selling L4V Statement Lock and made it even more resistant to attack. Their innovative use of engineering now means they have a product in their range that is ‘anti-cut', which presents a whole new level of attack protection. The L4V Premium Statement Lock has been subjected to prolonged attack with an extensive, heavy duty tool list, including angle grinders and drills. The result is a lock that can withstand exceptional force whilst bracing doors together.

As the deadlock works independently from the manufacturers’ locking system, it offers flexibility to the operator of the vehicle, allowing them to make use this extra security when required.

Terry Rayner, Commercial Director at Locks 4 Vans explained: “Our Research and Development team have excelled once again by conceiving a game-changing solution to take our existing L4V Statement Lock to the next level. Providing the ultimate level of security, this braces doors together and sets a new standard in repelling vehicle attacks. Our Sole Secure Diamond accreditation, along with our recognition from Secured by Design further endorses why this is unequivocally the van security product for 2022. We are delighted to add this to our product range and continue to deliver peace of mind for our customers, whilst once again driving innovation for the industry as a whole”.

Locks 4 Vans have shown their ongoing commitment to help reduce crime surrounding vehicle attacks by investing £2.5 million in 2020 to extend their capability in producing rapid, game-changing solutions for their customers.

Lyn Poole, Development Officer at Secured by Design commented: “It’s great news that Locks 4 Vans have joined SBD as a licensed member. With the demand of all types of trades becoming increasingly busy once again, vans are vulnerable to theft and other types of crimes. Regardless of if you own just one van or an entire fleet, all owners need to take the security of their vehicles very seriously. Having a van broken in to doesn’t just put your tools at risk, it means you may need to delay or cancel jobs, replace missing items, repair broken doors or windows, or even replace the van altogether, causing serious expense to the owner”.

Lyn went on to say: “I was lucky enough to meet up with Terry Rayner, the Commercial Director last week and it was an eye opener being shown around their factory and R&D rooms. They have an incredible can-do attitude and always aim to find out exactly what the client requires, then design and manufacture the highest-quality prototypes. I look forward to working with them".
