EK Facades joins Secured by Design
London-based EK Facades is one of the latest companies to join Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative, with a wide range of accredited aluminium door and window systems.
Operating from its manufacturing facility in Dartford, EK Glazing was established to provide a complete design, fabrication and installation service for high-performance glazing systems under one controlled operation. By manufacturing aluminium and uPVC window, door and curtain wall systems in-house, the company is able to maintain consistent quality control throughout each stage of a project, while also providing improved lead times and greater supply chain certainty for clients.
EK Facades offers a range of glazing systems designed to meet varying requirements and project budgets, giving commercial clients greater flexibility when specifying products. Having recently completed full testing on the Schüco range, the company is now able to supply Secured by Design accredited products to the market.
A wide range of EK Facades’ Schüco systems have achieved Secured by Design accreditation, including the ADS 65 HD, ADS 70 HD and ADS 75 HD door ranges, the AD UP 75 and AD UP 90 door ranges, ASE sliding door systems and AWS window ranges. These products have been tested to meet rigorous security standards, demonstrating the company’s commitment to providing high-quality doors and windows to support reductions in crime.
Kas Kaca, EK Facades, said: “Becoming a Secured by Design Licence Holder is an important milestone for EK Facades and further demonstrates our commitment to quality, security and compliance across the building envelope solutions we provide.
“Windows and doors form an increasingly important part of our offering, and achieving Secured by Design recognition strengthens our ability to provide clients with complete supply and installation solutions incorporating products that meet recognised security and performance standards.
“For our commercial and residential clients, it provides additional confidence that security is being considered alongside performance, quality and aesthetics from specification through to installation.
“We are proud to be working with Secured by Design and look forward to delivering more projects incorporating PAS 24 and Secured by Design compliant window and door solutions.”
Lyn Poole, Secured by Design, commented: “We are pleased to welcome EK Glazing to SBD membership. They have had a significant number of their aluminium products tested and third party certificated to the enhanced security standard PAS 24 2022. I’m delighted to be working with them and their range of Police Preferred Specification accredited products.”

Secured by Design
Secured by Design is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.
SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.
SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.
SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed over 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
