Heron Fire Doors launches Thermasafe 30™ with advanced fire door efficiency
Northern Ireland-based Heron Fire Doors, part of Heron Manufacture Ltd, has announced the launch of its new Thermasafe 30™ doorset, a product designed to combine fire safety, energy efficiency and security performance in a single solution.
Developed over a two-year period, Thermasafe 30™ delivers fire and smoke resistance alongside advanced thermal, acoustic and security performance, achieving a U-value of just 1.2W/m²K. Weather resistance is provided as standard, with the doorset designed using sustainably sourced materials and engineered to provide long-term value.

Raising the standard for fire doors
Thermasafe 30™ is built around an engineered timber core that helps deliver a U-value of 1.2W/m²K, offering improved thermal performance compared to conventional timber fire doors. Enhanced weather seals, thermally bridged thresholds and draught-resistant ironmongery options all contribute to reduced heat loss and improved energy efficiency.
The doorset also exceeds FD30s and E30Sa standards, achieving 45 minutes of fire and smoke resistance. Unlike foam or composite-based alternatives, Thermasafe 30™ is manufactured from recyclable, sustainably sourced timber, supporting reduced environmental impact and easier handling. The product was recognised with the British Woodworking Federation’s Award for Innovation in 2024.
Safety, security and sustainability
Suitable for residential and commercial settings, Thermasafe 30™ is rigorously tested and triple certified for use in UK and European markets. It meets or exceeds a range of international standards, including:
- Thermal Efficiency (EN ISO 10077-2 & EN ISO 12567-1): U-value of 1.2W/m²K
- Fire Resistance (EN 1634-1): Meets E30Sa test standards
- Smoke Control (EN 1634-3): Prevents the spread of smoke in escape routes
- Security (PAS 24:2022): Protection against impact, attack and mechanical force
- Weather Resistance (BS 6375-1): Tested to exposure category 800U and wind pressure up to 1.5kN/m²
- Durability (EN 1192): Independently tested to 200,000 operating cycles
- Acoustic Performance (EN ISO 10140-1): Achieves up to 30dB sound reduction
Thermasafe 30™ has also been accredited by Secured by Design, having met the rigorous requirements of the Police Preferred Specification for security.
Versatile and adaptable
Alongside its performance credentials, Thermasafe 30™ offers design versatility, with a range of panel designs and flush or plant-on moulded finishes available to suit a variety of residential and commercial applications, including flats, offices and other multi-occupancy buildings. The doorset is compatible with a wide range of fire and security hardware, with components sourced from accredited suppliers to ensure quality and durability.
Kenny McHugh, Secured by Design, commented: “It’s great to see Heron Fire Doors bringing a product like the Thermasafe 30™ to market. By combining high standards of fire protection with strong security credentials and energy efficiency, this doorset reflects the kind of innovation that Secured by Design is proud to support.”
Thermasafe 30™ doorsets combine regulatory compliance, security accreditation and advanced thermal and acoustic performance, providing a comprehensive solution for contractors, developers and specifiers seeking reliable, future-ready fire door systems.
