Lockit-Safe join Secured by Design

Market leader in the design, fabrication and installation of secure cycle stands, shelters, compounds and cycle hubs Lockit-Safe is one of the latest companies to join the official police security initiative, Secured by Design (SBD).

Lockit-Safe join SBD with a number of bicycle and motorcycle security products having achieved the Police Preferred Specification for their security features, including the first and only two-tier cycle rack that has achieved SBD accreditation. Two-tier cycle parking is one of the fastest growing cycle parking solutions in recent years, with environments such as rail stations, where space is at a premium, embracing this solution allowing double the cycle parking spaces for their commuters.

Two tier

Doug Skins, Secured by Design, said: “Cycle theft remains a significant issue, with people often giving up cycling if their bike is stolen. Others may be put off cycling if they are not confident of secure parking being available, so I’m delighted that Lockit-Safe have joined Secured by Design adding to the range of secure cycle stands available.

“Lockit-Safe’s Sheffield Stands and two-tier cycle rack have achieved the Sold Secure silver standard and the two-tier cycle rack is the first of its kind to achieve Secured by Design recognition, complying with the guidance contained in the UK Cycle Parking Standard which was published in June 2021.

“The UK Cycle Parking Standard guidance was published to enable people purchasing, installing and managing cycle parking to identify appropriate products and installations as even where cycle parking is provided, there can often be issues with quality. Too often what is procured is not well designed, inclusive, durable, or correctly installed, making it ineffective for the users and the standard seeks to remedy this.

“Lockit-Safe join SBD with their Motorcycle Rail having also achieved Police Preferred Specification, and I look forward to working with them over the coming years as they work to prevent cycle and motorcycle crime”.

This represents a real feather in our cap and sets us apart from our competitors.

“We look forward to working with the teams at Secured by Design and Sold Secure to gain accreditations for our wider product range and become a driving force for the improvement of cycle parking security and quality in the UK for years to come”.
