Loxta launches UK’s first retrofittable high-security handle range.

Lancashire-based Loxta Hardware, experts in manufacturing high security premium hardware, has joined Secured by Design, the official national police security initiative.

The family-owned business has been in operation for over 35 years and offers turnkey solutions for the trade, including OEM customisation (custom made to fit spec of purchasing company), private labelling, and bespoke manufacturing hardware for fabricators, locksmiths, and ironmongers.

Their new STEALTH Commander door handle range designed for both residential and commercial properties is the UK’s first easily retrofittable high security handle range.  It’s only one of two door handles to receive Sold Secure Silver accreditation meeting the stringent SS301 burglar attack testing standards. After further rigorous testing the STEALTH Commander range has also gained Secured by Design accreditation, see their dedicated member’s page here.

"The STEALTH Commander isn't just another security product – it's a complete rethinking of how we approach door security in both new builds and existing properties," says Shaun Singh, Managing Director at Loxta. "With increasingly sophisticated break-in methods being employed by criminals, we wanted to create a security solution that doesn't compromise on security, style or versatility”.

Unlike traditional security handles that require specialised door modifications, the STEALTH Commander suite is designed to be versatile, offering multiple plate options to accommodate various locking systems used by fabricators, locksmiths and ironmongers alike – including multipoint locks, DIN locks (European standard locks) , sash locks, and patio door systems.

The product range is made from marine grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance and strength and features three backplate options and six handle variations.  This gives customers the flexibility to meet their security needs while offering a choice of aesthetically pleasing designs. The innovative extra long plate version offers 240mm fixing centres, allowing installation with fixings positioned both above and below the lock case – making it the first security door handle in the UK to achieve this unique feature.

Hazel Goss, SBD, commented, “It has been a pleasure to have Loxta join us as members of Secured by Design.  They offer a fantastic stealth door handle, gaining Sold Secure Certification, looking forward to working alongside them for many more years to come.”

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
