“Joining Secured by Design marks an important milestone for Palguard"
Palguard has joined Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative that works to reduce crime and the fear of crime through high-quality, innovative security products and guidance.
Designed to enhance physical perimeter security, Palguard is a specialist solution developed to strengthen palisade fencing systems. In achieving Secured by Design’s Police Preferred Specification, Palguard has met the rigorous test standards required by the police, providing reassurance that the product offers effective and proven security performance. Secured by Design accreditation is the only way for products to achieve police recognition in the UK.
Palguard has been engineered to address common vulnerabilities in palisade fencing by protecting critical fixing points. Its specially designed bracket shields fixings from attack, making it significantly more difficult for intruders to compromise the fence structure. This approach supports the principles of Secured by Design by reducing opportunities for unauthorised access and criminal activity.
Constructed with durability in mind, Palguard is designed to withstand tampering, vandalism and harsh environmental conditions. The system is compatible with industry standard W and D section pales, allowing it to be integrated into new or existing fencing installations. Options for powder coating in a range of RAL colours also allow the product to be adapted to different environments and aesthetic requirements.
Ease of installation has been a key consideration in the design of Palguard. The system clips directly onto horizontal palisade rails, reducing the need for complex assembly and helping to minimise health and safety risks associated with working at height. Its adaptable design also allows it to be used on sites with uneven or sloping ground.
By joining Secured by Design, Palguard demonstrates its commitment to supporting safer environments through robust, practical and well-designed perimeter security solutions that meet recognised police standards.
Kevin Cowap, Managing Director, Palguard, said: “Joining Secured by Design marks an important milestone for Palguard. From the outset, our goal has been to enhance traditional palisade fencing solutions. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates that Palguard not only strengthens the physical infrastructure, but does so to a standard independently verified by the police.”
Hazel Goss, Secured by Design, commented: “It has been a pleasure to have Palguard join us as SBD members. They offer a unique product that works with palisade fencing, giving the ultimate security solution, a robust and reliable palisade fencing system and deterring crime. I am looking forward to working with them and watching them develop for many more years to come.”
