Patlock celebrates a decade of security with Secured by Design

Since its inception, Patlock has been dedicated to enhancing home security for French doors and patio doors as well as conservatories - often considered one of the most vulnerable entry points in residential properties.
 
The product was designed and developed in the UK to initially combat the growing threat of lock snapping and continues to help secure homes today against the latest methods of cylinder and door attacks.

Patlock’s unique patented design works by securing the internal door handles, preventing the external handles from being operated and therefore retaining the locked position of the door mechanism, even if the cylinder locks have been compromised. 

In addition, a pair of patented tamper-resistant spindles are also supplied with the Patlock to add an extra level of protection. 

Patlock has no keys or combination lock and is easy to fit with ratchet locking bars that secure in seconds. This simple yet effective solution provides homeowners with instant peace of mind, acting as both a physical and visual deterrent to intruders. 

Over the past decade, Patlock’s commitment to quality and innovation has been validated through its continued accreditation from Secured by Design. This recognition means the product continues to meet the latest rigorous testing standards set by police forces.

Secured by Design

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
