Performance Doorset Solutions undertake expansion
Performance Doorset Solutions (PDS), established in 2003 in a small industrial unit on the outskirts of Rochdale, has announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing facilities.
Initially founded to supply purpose-made glass reinforced plastic (GRP) security doorsets to the construction industry, the company quickly gained traction, aided in part by the government’s Decent Homes standard. PDS has since developed into a well-established manufacturer of high-performance doorsets.
Built on foundations of experience within the joinery sector, the company has consistently emphasised quality, service, and value. Over time, PDS has expanded its product offering to include a broad range of acoustic, security, and fire-rated doors, manufactured to comply with the latest safety and regulatory standards. The company oversees the entire production process in-house, utilising both CNC machinery and traditional joinery techniques.
From its original unit, PDS expanded to several additional premises before relocating to a purpose-built facility in Littleborough, Lancashire. This move allowed for increased production capacity and more extensive fire and security testing capabilities. Since its early days, with a turnover under £500,000, the business has grown to achieve annual revenues exceeding £18 million.
The latest phase of growth follows another record year for the company and includes the addition of a new manufacturing facility. This expansion increases the company’s total floorspace in Littleborough to over 110,000 square feet, aiming to further support both existing and new customers.
Tim Fairley, Managing Director, PDS, said: “On the back of the long term and continued high demand for our highly certified and compliant ranges of fire and security doorsets, we are pleased to confirm further expansion of manufacturing floorspace, here in Littleborough, taking us beyond 110,000 sq. ft in total. We are proud to be not only a large employer in the area, but an active community business, supporting jobs, growth, local charities, clubs and events.”
Hazel Goss, Secured by Design, commented: “It is great news when I see one of our SBD member companies doing so well and undergoing expansion due to the excellent products they provide – in this case a full range of PAS 24 doorsets and fire doors. PDS are a lovely company and I am so happy to be able to watch them grow and expand even further.”
