Police CPI to provide support for Safer Streets Fund

Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI) will once again be supporting Police & Crime Commissioners, police forces and local authorities in the delivery of the Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund, providing a package of technical support to those who have been successful in their applications.

Over the next 26 weeks, commencing this week, Police CPI will be using the Knowledge Hub – both the Safer Streets Fund Community group and the Police CPI group - to deliver a further package of technical support to assist those involved in the delivery of Safer Streets Fund Round 2 projects.  This will include:

  • Weekly blogs, published each Thursday (beginning 5 August) on crime prevention topics relevant to the Safer Streets Fund objectives – these will be posted within the Knowledge Hub in the ‘Safer Streets Fund Community’ and ‘Secured by Design’ groups.  Please use the following link to log in or to register: https://knowledgehub.group.

  • Weekly, live, hour-long crime prevention question and answer sessions so that you can discuss issues of concern and seek help and guidance. These sessions will provide a unique opportunity to discuss bids with colleagues all over the country, sharing best practice and resolving issues or problems.  This will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams, accessible via a link in the Knowledge Hub, each Friday between 10:00 and 11:00 (beginning 6 August).

  • Educational opportunity for project leads, middle managers and others involved in the delivery of Safer Streets Fund, to undertake ‘Introduction to Crime Prevention & Problem Solving’ Level 2 qualification. This is available for staff within the PCC’s office or police force and will be delivered by Police CPI’s Police Crime Prevention Academy. Please look out for details of how to book your space on this course in the coming weeks.

  • A further series of ‘How to’ crime prevention guides. The ‘How to’ guides for last year’s Safer Streets Fund, covering the topics of Property Marking; Lighting; Motor Vehicles; Physical Security and Alley Gating can be viewed or downloaded for free at: https://www.securedbydesign.com/guidance/safer-streets.

You are invited to submit topics for future blogs, Q&A sessions, or ‘how to’ crime prevention guides. These could be subjects you wish to hear about or may be having difficulty with. Please submit to .
