PSM Live CCTV Monitoring Stops Home Break-In and Alerts Police

Secured by Design (SBD) member company, Professional Surveillance Management (PSM) has helped stop a serious residential break-in at one of their client’s homes through their live CCTV monitoring service.

PSM operators were alerted when an alarm was triggered at a customer’s property as three masked intruders wielding crowbars attempted to force open the front door while the family hid inside. Immediately the PSM operator issued live warnings and audio alerts as the intruders continued attacking the door and windows. While the events unfolded, the operator calmly contacted the police providing a clear, detailed description of the intruders and incident.

After briefly entering the house the criminals quickly fled knowing the police were on their way. Thanks to PSM’s monitoring services and composed response, emergency services were able to get to the crime scene quickly to secure it and ensure the family’s safety. PSM’s CCTV footage was collected as vital evidence.

“It was a terrifying ordeal for me and my family. I don’t know what we would have done without PSM’s intervention. It meant the burglars were only in our house for 2 minutes, not 2 hours” said the residential customer.

PSMs operators are trained to detect, deter and defend to protect homes, families and business through proactive monitoring and instant response. The company offers a diverse range of CCTV monitoring services providing real-time around the clock protection through their remote video receiving centre (RVRC).  When an intruder triggers an alarm, live CCTV footage is sent to trained operators who monitor the situation and visually verify any threats before responding immediately with audio warnings, alarms, and alerting emergency services.

Hazel Goss, SBD Development Officer said, “This was a serious incident that could have had a very different outcome if it were not for PSM and the services they provide. Their quick actions and professionalism made all the difference. They offer products and services you can trust and they are valued members of SBD”.

Kerry Jones, co-founder & CEO of PSM, said, “No one ever thinks it’ll happen to them until it does. This was an awful situation for one of my customers and their family, and I’m just thankful everyone was unharmed. Our job is to make sure that when the unthinkable happens, someone is already watching and ready to respond. The family were incredibly brave, and our operators did exactly what they’re trained to do - act fast, stay calm, and keep people safe.”
