"PWIDF are committed to offering customers the best possible door solutions"

Gwent based fire door specialists, PWIDF, are one of the latest companies to join Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

Established in 1996, PWIDF is a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality, third-party certified fire doors and is part of the Premier Forest Group. PWIDF has gained a reputation for high standards of service and products in the construction, building maintenance and trade contracting industries, fabricating and distributing both fire rated and non-fire rated doors and door sets. They are also a comprehensive supplier of architectural ironmongery hardware, electric locking and access control systems.

PWIDF are a fully third-party certified manufacturer, and their FD30s and FD60s carry the Q Mark certification from BM Trada for manufacturing and enhanced security door sets, as well as Police Preferred Specification from Secured by Design.

As a manufacturer, the company offers bespoke specifications for clients with complete project support throughout the UK. In addition to fire door sets, PWIDF develops innovative, specialist door solutions for the public and private sectors, including government, healthcare, education, commercial, hospitality and residential markets.

As part of their commitment to security, the following door sets from PWIDF have achieved Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification:

  • Strebord Flat Entrance Door System FD30

Justin John, Senior Sales Manager, PWIDF, said: “To align with our other prestigious certifications, SBD accreditation complements our well established PAS24 door set offer. These door sets are very popular with both our public and private sector customers. These doors can also be PAS24 SBD certified for access controlled door sets and that’s great for the build-to-rent and student accommodation market place. PWIDF are committed to offering our customers the best possible door solutions for their projects.”

Hazel Goss, Secured by Design, commented: “It has been a pleasure to have PWIDF join us as members of Secured by Design. They offer a wide range of products, specialising in fire doors. I am looking forward to working alongside them for many years to come.”

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
