Ring devices achieve BSI Kitemark

Secured by Design (SBD) member company Ring is pleased to share that their Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), Stick Up Cam Battery, Stick Up Cam Solar, Stick Up Cam Plug-In, and Floodlight Cam Wired Plus products have been awarded certification to the Kitemark™ for Internet of Things (IoT) from BSI (British Standards Institution).

“For more than 100 years, the BSI Kitemark™ has been recognized as a symbol of outstanding quality, safety and trust across a wide range of products and services,” said BSI’s Global Digital Products Director, David Mudd. “Ring’s certification to The Kitemark for IoT is a promise that best practice cyber security is applied to their Kitemarked products, and a demonstration of their strong commitment to privacy and security.”

Ring commented “To achieve this accreditation, devices were rigorously tested and exceeded international standards for IoT security and privacy. Ring’s mobile application, product design, manufacturing, and support management processes were also assessed to ensure the high standards of quality are maintained throughout production. These initial and ongoing assessments by trusted external organisations give continued peace of mind that Ring products meet very high standards for safety and reliability.

“At Ring, we design privacy and security deeply into all of our products and services, and we give our customers control of their information while ensuring they can operate the devices with ease and confidence.

Ring BSI 2“In 2021, we continued to deliver on our commitment to innovating on the privacy and security features we provide. We were one of the first in the smart home industry to offer video End-to-End encryption for our customers. We also added support for authenticator apps to provide an additional layer of security at login. We are excited to continue innovating on behalf of our customers, while keeping security foundational to everything we build and offer”.

Ring holds SBD accreditation for their Floodlight Cam Wired Plus, Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) and Ring Stick Up Cams (3rd Generation).

SBD is the official police security initiative, focused on improving the security of buildings and surrounding areas. Achieving SBD status is an indication that a product has completed rigorous testing and offers a high level of security, and is fully certified by an independent third-party certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

Ring is proud to offer the first smart doorbell to achieve both the BSI Kitemark™ and SBD accreditation as they continue their mission to make neighbourhoods safer.
