“……to educate the market in the correct selection and use of security products”

Designers and manufacturers of a range of motorcycle and bicycle security products, Pragmasis Securityforbikes.com, have renewed their membership with Secured by Design (SBD).

Pragmasis started out in 2003 after an attempted theft of their motorcycles left Steve Briggs and his wife Sarah Walters looking for new security – but they couldn’t find anything that met their criteria.  They went on to design, manufacture and retail the award-winning Torc ground anchor, the Protector range of security chains, the Shed Shackle, the Anti-Pinch Pin and more innovative and practical security products.

Pragmasis manufacture in the UK and abroad to strict specification, confident that they are producing top-quality products in a reliable and ethical way, and at the same time, are supporting local companies and the UK manufacturing industry. Quality, reliability and customer service have always been the company’s priorities and remain so to this day.

Respecters of the environment, Pragmasis have excellent environmental credentials - as well as using renewable energy in the home and office (solar panels and wood-burning stove), the company are also active in the field of wildlife conservation.  The business helps fund another passion, an ancient woodland wildlife site closeby called Alvecote Wood – full of ancient trees, coppice, ponds, wildflower meadows and a new 9-acre native woodland called Betty’s Wood.

Pragmasis have been proud supporters of the Police Service for many years, supporting motorcycle and bicycle safety campaigns run by police forces, lending their expertise at SBD training events for police officers.

Steve Briggs, Pragmasis, said: “We were the first company manufacturing high-end motorcycle and bicycle physical security products to join SBD way back in 2010. Several of our competitors, far larger companies than us, have recently followed our lead. We think this is a good thing as it shows those traditional manufacturers are becoming more customer-oriented and hopefully more aware of the need to innovate within their product development but also to educate the market in the correct selection and use of security products. The world of security is becoming more responsible and that helps to improve the deterrent that thieves see when trying to steal people’s property.

“We have remained true to our founding principles of product quality and customer service: We have always tried to put ourselves in the position of the customer when working out our product designs. So often, products were designed to be easy to make and to be profitable, but with little regard to how they should be installed, or used. We have always tried to go above and beyond what people expect: to make top quality products that are easy to install and easy to use, and indeed easy to use correctly. This customer consideration and our attention to detail have been our hallmarks throughout our 20-year history and we are proud to continue the same way.”

Hazel Goss, Secured by Design said: “It has been a pleasure to renew membership with Pragmasis, who have been long standing members with Secured by Design. They offer a wide range of excellent security products for motor and bicycle crime, including security for sheds, garages and outbuildings.  I’m looking forward to our continued working relationship over the coming years”.
