“We are delighted that our WASP has achieved the prestigious Secured by Design accreditation"

Tyne and Wear security company, ASEL Temporary Security Services, part of the Argenbright Security Europe Limited (ASEL) business, are one of the latest to join Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

ASEL specialises in designing, developing, and delivering fully bespoke and integrated security solutions that combine people, technology, and processes to address a wide range of security challenges. Their services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, providing flexibility, choice, and risk-based strategies that optimise security management and budgets.

ASEL offers a comprehensive suite of services, including feasibility assessments, detailed risk analysis, equipment installation, and effective deployment of security personnel. Their capabilities extend to rapid deployment of temporary solutions, remote monitoring and response, surveillance and investigations, offender management, and ongoing service optimisation. ASEL’s solutions are supported by continuous data capture and analytics, empowering businesses with actionable insights to manage risks efficiently.

Their Secured by Design accredited product, the Wireless Alarm Site Protection (WASP) Device, has also achieved Secure Connected Device accreditation – the first product of its type to achieve the standard. The WASP is a robust rapid deployment solution, featuring an intrusion alarm system equipped with high quality infrared sensors. These sensors detect movement and send evidence to the ASEL control room for visual verification. When the WASP activates, a pre-recorded audio alarm, loud signal and strobe lighting are generated to deter intruders.

This recognition not only reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality security solutions but also strengthens our partnership with Secured by Design. At ASEL we are dedicated to providing our customers with trusted, industry-leading protection, and this accreditation further validates the effectiveness of WASP in safeguarding people, property, and assets.”

Doug Skins, Secured by Design, commented: “It’s great to see that ASEL have chosen to join Secured by Design, and I’m pleased to say their Secured by Design accredited WASP device is the first of its kind to achieve our Secure Connected Device accreditation. I look forward to developing the relationship between ASEL and SBD over the coming years.”

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
