BevGARDien join Secured by Design

Secured by Design (SBD) is pleased to welcome BevGARDien as a new member company, recognising its innovative approach to customer safety through the development of its accredited anti-spiking drinks cover system.

Developed in the UK, BevGARDien was created to help venues take proactive steps to improve customer safety in social environments. Designed for use across bars, clubs, festivals, universities and hospitality settings, the product combines tamper-evident functionality with educational resources and environmentally conscious design.

The company’s accredited product, the BevGARDien Eco Anti-Spiking Drinks Cover, is designed to fit glasses, bottles and cans, creating a visible seal that can help users identify whether a drink may have been interfered with. The cover incorporates a four-point tamper lock system and has been developed using food-contact compliant materials, independently tested to relevant EU food-contact standards.

Founded by drinks industry professionals with extensive experience in the hospitality sector, BevGARDien is a 55% female-owned UK business established in response to growing concerns around drink spiking and the need for practical, accessible prevention measures. The company has worked to create a solution that not only helps protect customers but also supports wider awareness and education around personal safety, particularly within hospitality, events and student environments.

Designed with practical venue implementation in mind, the BevGARDien system includes 100-Cover Bar Station Dispensing Boxes, venue posters and access to an online safety guidance portal. Together, these resources provide venues with an additional customer-safety tool, helping to support existing welfare initiatives, raise awareness of drink spiking risks and provide clear information on prevention and support.

Each cover incorporates a QR code linking users to anti-spiking information and support resources, alongside distinctive designs intended to help individuals easily identify their drinks in busy social environments.

Alongside its focus on safety, sustainability forms an important part of the BevGARDien approach. The covers are manufactured in the UK using FSC-certified paper and water-based inks, coatings and adhesives, providing a recyclable alternative to many single-use protective products.

The company also works with organisations focused on both personal safety and environmental protection, donating a portion of annual profits to charitable causes including Spike Aware UK and WWF. BevGARDien is also an approved supplier for the National Union of Students (NUS).

By joining Secured by Design, BevGARDien demonstrates its commitment to developing innovative products that contribute to safer environments, all while supporting responsible and sustainable manufacturing practices.

George Rowley, Co-Founder of BevGARDien, said: "We are delighted that BevGARDien has achieved Secured by Design accreditation. Having worked in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years, I have seen first-hand the importance of customer welfare and the positive impact that practical prevention measures can have. BevGARDien was created to provide venues and consumers with an additional tool that supports existing welfare initiatives, raises awareness of drink spiking and encourages safer social environments. We are proud that the UK Police Service, through Secured by Design, has recognised our contribution and look forward to continuing to work with venues, universities, policing partners and safety organisations across the UK."

Lyn Poole, Secured by Design, commented: “It’s great to have products such as these anti-spiking drinks covers available. They offer a simple solution to help keep drinks safe while people are out having fun. We are pleased to welcome BevGARDien as a Secured by Design member.”
