The Bike Storage Company joins Secured by Design

Based in West London, The Bike Storage Company is a specialist manufacturer of commercial cycle storage and street furniture products, with more than 15 years of industry experience. Its portfolio of projects includes major developments and organisations such as The Shard, Battersea Power Station, Transport for London and McLaren HQ.

The company designs and manufactures a range of secure cycle storage solutions in Britain, working closely with architects, specifiers and contractors to provide practical and future-focused products for residential, commercial, education and public sector developments.

Several products within The Bike Storage Company’s range have achieved Police Preferred Specification from Secured by Design, reflecting their ability to meet rigorous independent security testing standards.

Accredited products include the Semi Vertical Bike Rack, Two Tier Cycle Rack, Gas-Assisted Two Tier Cycle Rack and the Impregnable Cycle Shelter.

Designed for environments where security is a key consideration, the accredited racks incorporate features such as heavy-duty welded locking hoops, tamper-resistant fixtures and fittings, and secure frame and wheel locking points. Their space-efficient designs also help maximise cycle parking capacity in constrained areas, making them suitable for locations including residential developments, commercial offices, schools, transport hubs and secure cycle rooms.

The Impregnable Cycle Shelter has achieved Sold Secure Gold accreditation, the highest independently verified security rating available for cycle shelters in the UK. Constructed using an 80mm SHS steel frame with 358 high-security mesh and high-security fixings throughout, the shelter is engineered to resist determined attack while also offering an architectural finish through the use of FSC-certified timber cladding.

Alongside security performance, The Bike Storage Company places a strong emphasis on sustainability and long-term durability. As part of the Made in Britain campaign, all accredited products are designed and fabricated in Britain, with a focus on maintenance-free performance and long service life.

Secured by Design is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.
