JNE Security Secures GMCA-GMP Crime Reduction Contract

JNE Security Ltd, specialists in crime prevention products, has been awarded a key contract under the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) procurement Framework to supply ‘Crime Reduction Products’.

The family-run business based in Wrexham has been a Secured by Design member for over 20 years and is a leading supplier of crime prevention and community safety products. The company works with local authorities, universities, hospitals, housing associations and corporate clients, providing security solutions for victims of abuse or crime, lone workers, students, shift workers, or anyone feeling vulnerable.

The GMCA ‘Police and Crime Plan’ emphasises reducing and preventing neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour, and the Framework is a compliantly procured contract designed to streamline and simplify procurement for UK police forces, ensuring efficient access to pre-approved suppliers to source cost effective crime reduction products.

JNE are one of the authorised suppliers which means they have direct access to police forces across the country looking for crime prevention products without needing to go through a lengthy procurement process each time. 64 police organisations around the country are able to utilise the Framework, which is valid from January 2025-2028 with an option to extend for an additional year.

The company has a long standing commitment to personal safety and crime prevention products and their well-known Minder range includes personal attack alarms, window alarms and chimes, portable personal alarm and torch, window and door alarms, portable door locks and RFID signal blockers.  More details on JNE’s SBD accredited products can be found here on their dedicated member’s page.

Hazel Goss, SBD, commented, “This is a great achievement by JNE to obtain this prestige contract which they fully deserve and I look forward to working with them as their Development Officer.”

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
