metroSTOR® join Secured by Design

metroSTOR® is one of the latest brands to join Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

metroSTOR® is the UK’s leading outdoor storage system for the built environment, with products designed to help revitalise the fabric of urban areas delivering social, economic and environmental value. The brand is a part of the Streetspace family, a vibrant team of people who have been creating urban realm projects for more than 20 years.

metroSTOR® can supply and install a number of products, including individual bike storage lockers, secure bike stores and communal cycle hubs; flexible, tough outdoor storage units and buildings; secure yet easy to use mobility scooter storage, charging lockers, units and hubs; enclosed bin storage units, screen systems, recycling centres and bin room buildings. Models are available in different dimensions, cladding, finishes and locking systems to suit any application.

metroSTOR® join SBD with four cycle storage and external storage units having achieved Police Preferred Specification. You can find out more about metroSTOR® and their range of SBD accredited products here:

Nigel Deacon, National Account Director at metroSTOR®, said: “The huge increase in cycle purchases over recent months is great news for sustainability, but unfortunately this has been more than matched by an increase in cycle theft.

“Professional gangs with cordless angle grinders make short work of almost any cycle lock so it is essential that bikes are kept within a secure store that does not rely solely on internal locking points to meet the necessary criteria.

“Secured by Design accreditation substantiates our commitment to providing products that meet the highest levels of security available on the market.”

SBD Development Officer Lyn Poole: "It's exciting to have metroSTOR® on board as our latest SBD licensed member. Their cycle and storage units are a great addition to our Police Preferred Specification products. I look forward to working with them over the coming years".
