Pelion Consulting gain Digital Security Provider accreditation

Pelion Consulting is the latest organisation to be recognised as a Digital Security Provider by the Police Digital Security Centre (PDSC).

With 65,000 cyber security attacks on UK SMEs daily, and 41% of UK consumers claiming they will never return to a business that has had a security breach, investing in cyber security has never been more important.

With this ever increasing threat to SMEs, who often struggle to find the expertise and funding to implement effective cyber security, the PDSC developed the Digital Security Provider certification scheme in collaboration with BSI (British Standards Institution). The scheme helps SMEs make informed decisions when choosing a vendor and promotes vendors who take time to understand their customers and deliver solutions that are tailored to their needs.

As part of their certification, Pelion Consulting underwent a robust accreditation process and were able to demonstrate that they had taken the necessary security steps to instil confidence in their product and supply chain, as well as demonstrating that they help end users choose effective and appropriate cyber security solutions. The certification recognises that Pelion Consulting can provide solutions in the field of digital security which genuinely solve their clients’ problems.

Cheyne Marley, Cyber Development Officer at the Police Digital Security Centre, said: “Julian and Richard and their teams at Pelion have worked hard to gain this accreditation. All at Pelion Consulting should be proud of their achievement and I look forward to working together and developing our joined up approach to tackling cyber crime and reducing the opportunities for cyber criminals”.

Richard Hodder, CEO of Pelion Consulting, said “We are very proud to have obtained this accreditation. It confirms the work we have been doing over the past 2 years and provides assurance to our clients and partners that Pelion is the trusted choice when it comes to cyber security. We are looking forward to working with the PDSC and associated organisations to reduce the threats posed by cyber crime not only on land but also at sea.”

Pelion Consulting is a maritime focused cyber security specialist, with affiliations to international standards organisations. The company offers risk management and cyber security solutions to ports, marinas and the wider maritime sector, with a special focus on the yachting industry.

Working with maritime organisations and affiliated port authorities Pelion Consulting aim to make the maritime industry safer from cyber-attack. The company is a member of Comité International Radio Maritime (CIRM) which gives them input into various international standards bodies such as IMO, ISO and ITU. This allows them to have input to the emerging standards and ensure those same standards are adhered to within the wider maritime sector.

The PDSC is part of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, a police-owned, not-for-profit organisation that works on behalf of the Police Service throughout the UK to deliver a wide range of crime prevention initiatives to reduce crime, as well as acting as a catalyst to bring together public and private sector organisations to create safer communities.

As well as law enforcement, the PDSC works in partnership with industry, government and academia in support of the Government’s ambition to make the UK one of the safest places to do business online.

The PDSC is focused on helping SMEs reduce their vulnerability to cyber-crime and fraud by raising awareness about the most common types of cyber-crime and the simple steps they can take to protect themselves. All advice and guidance is consistent with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
