Solon Security upgrades hugely popular SBD/SCD Defender Video Doorbell to DUAL BAND Wi-Fi operation, plus more

The upgraded version of the Defender Video Doorbell retains its Secure Connected Device (SCD) accreditation while introducing dual band Wi-Fi capability (2.4GHz and 5GHz), as well as higher resolution 3MP camera that delivers improved 2048*1356P video, plus new type-C charging for optimal battery life.

Millions of UK homes now operate with ‘full fibre’ broadband, which includes a 5GHz frequency in addition to the traditional 2.4GHz, with both bands having their advantages in terms of range, latency and connection. Many smart home devices that feature dual band connectivity are being steadily introduced by suppliers, to ensure end users reap the benefits of both methods and futureproof their smart home setup.

This requires high performance, high resolution and constant connection, making the need to also access the stronger 5GHz frequency clear. Being able to utilise both bands allows the Defender Video Doorbell to intelligently sit across the optimum frequencies and never miss a beat, offering reliable connection when it matters most.”

Solon’s upgraded doorbell continues to offer the same popular features that saw it designed specifically for the police to meet their operational needs, such as two-way audio, customisable privacy zones that can shield areas from recording, AI powered human detection options, a rechargeable long-life battery, a plug-in chime and a 32GB SD card as standard - all in a single kit at one price.

Activity is stored locally, so users remain in full control of their data with no mandatory cloud subscription fees. This local storage even allows recording operations to continue in the event of no Wi-Fi or a power outage.
