Allan Brothers, craftsmen of bespoke timber windows and doors

Secured by Design (SBD) member company Allan Brothers are highlighting their unparalleled expertise in timber craftsmanship – with on any given day their factory at Berwick-upon-Tweed containing an incredible 1,295 years of specialist experience.

Founded by William Allan in 1811 - four years before Wellington finally defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo – his sons James and Thomas Allan began their apprenticeship in wood craftsmanship under the watchful eye of their father, taking over the company on the death of their father in 1843.

Together they embarked on a programme of steady expansion and gradually acquired more land until their Berwick factory covered an impressive eight acres. Right from the very beginning James and Thomas shared a passion and determination to create the very best in timber windows and this clarity of vision is the bed-rock on which today’s Allan Brothers has based its commitment to unsurpassed quality.
