Officers from six police forces will be continuing their professional development this week, having a CPD day with a difference - the first regional conference held via Teams.
The officers from a total of six counties – Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Essex – will be holding their virtual conference on 7th July, with guest speakers including Secured by Design Licensed Consultant Lorraine Calcott of It Does Lighting, Post Office Security and Investigations Manager Steven Moseley and Secured by Design CEO Guy Ferguson.
Essex Police Strategic Designing Out Crime Officer Heather Gurden says: “We believe it is really important to keep in touch with colleagues who perform this specialised role, especially as many are working from home. By holding a virtual CPD event we can continue to develop those all-important essential skills, whilst at the same time making sure everyone continues to promote the benefits of Secured by Design and Designing out Crime.”
Secured by Design CEO Guy Ferguson comments: “Crime Prevention has never been more important, especially when Police Forces are under increasing pressure from many directions. This is an excellent initiative by the Eastern Region to ensure the regional team is up to date with all that is happening in the Crime Prevention world. The use of the increasingly familiar technology that the COVID-19 challenge has familiarised us with allows us to efficiently reach a large audience.”
