MOD Housing Estate in Staffordshire awarded SBD

The first Ministry of Defence (MOD) housing estate in Staffordshire has been awarded for efforts to design out crime at the earliest possible stage.

The MOD are building a large number of houses for the families of those serving in the armed forces. These houses, at Beaconside, Stafford, have been awarded Secured by Design accreditation.

To acknowledge the accreditation, Superintendent Ian Coxhead presented a Secured by Design Certificate on 27 May 2015, at MOD, Beaconside, Stafford.

Secured by Design effectively designs out crime at the planning stage. Long term this helps with the reduction of crime and disorder, keeping communities safe and reassured, dealing with what matters to the community and ensures that prospective residents’ lives will not be blighted by crime.

This development is a flagship for both Lovell builders, the MOD, Staffordshire Police and Secured by Design.
