Garage door manufacturer and fabricator, Gliderol Garage & Industrial Doors Ltd, of Peterlee, County Durham, is one of the latest companies to join Secured by Design (SBD), the national crime prevention initiative.
The company’s insulated roller garage door range has been accredited by SBD after gaining independent, third-party certification from Warrington Certification’s Certisecure scheme to STS 202 Issue 6 BR1 standard.
This standard means that the door can resist physical attack by a casual or opportunist burglars using simple tools like pliers, mole grips, spanners and screwdrivers, as well as levels of violence like kicking, shoulder charging, lifting or tearing.
Rolling neatly round a barrel above the garage door, this smart and stylish door range features vertical travel, insulation, weather protection and remote control as standard, although a manual version is also available.
In addition, owners benefit by maximising the space around the garage entrance – ideal for wider vehicles and narrow garages; and for convenience by enabling parking right-up to the door, both inside and outside, an important consideration for short driveways.
The company has been operating in the UK for more than 30 years and its complete garage door range is suited to both residential and commercial settings, which range from self-storage facilities to airport hangars.
Gliderol Managing Director, Roy Sinclair, said: “As one of the UK’s market leading roller garage door manufacturers, we are thrilled to have been accredited by Secured by Design, a brand that can only increase the confidence of our customers in the strength and security provided by our products, which are all supported by comprehensive warranties.”
SBD Development Officer, Alfie Hosker, said: "I am very pleased that Gliderol has gone through the rigorous process of product certification with the Warrington Certification’s Certisecure scheme and has achieved our Police Preferred Specification standard.
“Doing so, demonstrates that Gilderol’s insulated roller garage door range offers an enhanced level of security," he said.
Warrington Certification's Certisecure scheme offers enforcement authorities, architects, specifiers and building owners a high level of confidence that products offer an enhanced level of security, whilst at the same time maintaining fitness for purpose.
By actively supporting the SBD initiative, Warrington Certification ensures that the Certisecure scheme is kept up-to-date in order to combat the latest methods criminals are employing within this field.
The fundamental benefit of Certisecure is seated in giving the regulator, specifier, customer and end-user confidence about the stated performance of the product and provides an informed choice when purchasing or selecting the product.
