Peritus Security, who provide innovative security services and systems across the UK, join Secured by Design
Pioneering security services and systems provider Peritus Security is one of the latest companies to join Secured by Design (SBD), the national crime prevention initiative, with the company’s Little Green Marine (LGM) CCTV Pod being awarded the coveted Police Preferred Specification accreditation.
Designed and built as the new concept in stand-alone CCTV system for the construction and void property industry, the LGM CCTV Pod provides reliable CCTV coverage for a variety of projects, wherever they are located.
The LGM CCTV Pod boasts a suite of technical innovations, from an armoured and tamper-proof body, to wireless and networked communications and triggered monitoring via 360° motion sensors and cameras, all powered by a long-life power cell.
With 24 hour monitoring and infrared low light visual coverage, the LGM CCTV Pod’s powerful long-life battery ensures the system can be deployed to locations that lack mains or generator power for extensive periods of time. The LGM CCTV Pod also utilises an audible and flare lighting deterrent within its armoury.
Peritus Security Managing Director,Gordon Govan, said: “Everyone at Peritus is delighted to be associated with the Secured By Design crime prevention initiative. We all worked long and hard with the LGM to achieve the coveted Police Preferred Specification accreditation.
“The LGM is an innovative solution to an all too common problem”.
SBD Senior Development Officer, Kenny McHugh said: “I am very pleased that Peritus Security has achieved our Police Preferred Specification standard. Doing so, demonstrates that the Little Green Marine CCTV Pod offers an enhanced level of security”.

Secured by Design: Secured by Design, the national police crime prevention initiative, aim to achieve sustainable reductions in crime through design and other approaches to enable people to live in a safer society.
We work in partnership with National and Local Government, British and European standards authorities, trade associations, the construction industry, manufacturers and many other organisations to reduce crime and the fear of crime by incorporating proven crime prevention techniques into the built environment.
We have more than 200 SBD trained police officers and staff in Police Forces around the UK. These Designing Out Crime Officers work with architects, developers and local authority planners to build in tried, tested and proven crime prevention techniques at the planning stage to reduce crime and keep communities safe.
SBD seeks to reduce crime by combining minimum standards of physical security like doors, windows and locks that achieve SBD’s Police Preferred Specification standard and proven design principles of the built environment such as natural surveillance and defensible space.
Whilst police are unable to recommend specific products, SBD can act as an effective gatekeeper and signposting service to our 650 member companies and their products, which meet our rigorous Police Preferred Specification standards.
Members’ products range from secure and robust doors, windows and locks through to cutting-edge IT products, CCTV components, and shutters and barriers. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation for security products in the UK.
