The official police security initiative, Secured by Design (SBD), will be at The Cycle Show at the Alexandra Palace, London this weekend.
The Police Preferred Specification scheme requires all security products to meet or exceed the performance expectations documented within the relevant security standard for that type of product. It ensures that the product is sufficiently robust to resist physical attack by casual and opportunistic criminals. The SBD focus is on the critical factors that combine to deliver a product’s performance - design, use, quality control and the ability to deter or prevent crime. Better quality means these products last longer too, making them more cost effective and leading to greater sustainability in crime prevention.
A comprehensive list of the many hundred companies that produce many thousands of products that meet SBD’s Police Preferred Specification can be found at www.securedbydesign.com, along with a Crime Prevention and Security Advice Hub containing advice and guidance around the prevention of crime.
Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.
The Cycle Show takes place from 22nd to 24th April, running alongside the first-ever London eBike Festival. It is open from 09:30 to 18:00 on Friday & Saturday and 09:30 to 17:00 on Sunday.
