Whiteline opens third factory and launches SBD accredited doors

Secured by Design (SBD) member company Whiteline Manufacturing has had the first of its range of doors certified to Police Preferred Specification standards.

One is an inward and outward opening, double leaf PVC-U doorset with integral sidelight. The other is a composite inward opening, single leaf doorset with part glazing.

Both products have been certified to PAS 24 standards offering security suitable for domestic use and other buildings exposed to comparable risk. Whiteline also has a number of window products certified to SBD security standards, which are also listed on SBD’s website.

Eastbourne-based Whiteline was established in 1984 and has grown to become the largest independent fabricator of PVC-U windows and doors in the South East.

Operating under the PlatinumNRG brand, Whiteline offers an extensive list of security features in its range of windows and doors matched with a wide range of styles and finishes. Products are manufactured to the highest standard using top quality components and subject to rigorous quality checks throughout their manufacture.

Whiteline Managing Director Steve Milham, explained that with the growth of aluminium continuing relentlessly, the company has invested in a third factory – all on the same industrial estate – to help meet demand. Its facilities will include large training suites as well as comprehensive product showrooms to help display the increasing range of products on offer. The showroom is being made available to Whiteline’s clients to entertain home owners who can view the latest security products at their convenience.

Steve said: “We are thrilled to have had more of our products accredited by Secured by Design. Customers are appreciative of additional security and our association with Secured by Design gives them an additional feeling of confidence and satisfaction in our products.”

SBD Development Officer Lyn Poole commented: “Whiteline has been an SBD member company for many years. We are delighted to see the company growing and increasing its range of SBD accredited products to help provide extra security benefits for its expanding customer base.”

SBD is the UK’s police crime prevention initiative and works closely with UK Police Forces and a wide range of other organisations including National and Local Government, British and European standards authorities, the construction industry, trade associations and manufacturers to achieve sustainable reductions in crime through design and other approaches, to enable people to live in a safer society.

To obtain Police Preferred Specification status, manufacturers need certification from an independent third-party UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited body which requires regular production audits to ensure consistent quality over time – going beyond the one-off testing required to meet Part Q (Security – Dwellings) of the Building Regulations. SBD is the only way for any security products to attain Police Preferred Specification.
