Liniar continues long standing partnership with Secured by Design

Liniar, the Derbyshire based systems house providing PVC-U window and door profiles, has renewed its membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

The company has been a member of the initiative since 2008, demonstrating a long standing commitment to supporting high standards of security within the built environment.

Established in 1974, Liniar has grown to become one of the UK’s most recognised and innovative manufacturers of PVC-U extrusion products. Operating from its purpose built facilities in Denby, the company designs and develops a wide range of window and door systems used across the residential and commercial sectors. Liniar’s ethos of doing the right thing underpins its continued investment in product development, manufacturing capability and sustainability.

As a systems company, Liniar does not fabricate doors and windows directly. Instead, it supplies Secured by Design recognised profiles and systems to a network of approved fabricator partners, many of whom are also Secured by Design members.

Several Liniar systems have achieved Secured by Design accreditation, including a range of residential door, patio door and bi-folding door systems, alongside window systems designed to meet modern performance and security requirements.

Liniar continues to invest heavily in its manufacturing infrastructure, operating one of the largest PVC-U extrusion sites in the UK. Its advanced facilities include twin mixing plants capable of processing up to 120,000 tonnes of raw material each year, along with extrusion, lamination and fabrication operations that support the development of innovative systems for modern construction.

Liniar Technical Services Director, Paul Garforth, said: “Renewing our Secured by Design membership reinforces Liniar’s commitment to developing and rigorously testing high-quality, secure PVCu systems. We remain focused on delivering products that meet the highest standards, helping to protect end users and enhance the safety of their homes.”

Alfie Hosker, Secured by Design, commented: “I am absolutely delighted that Liniar have renewed with us once again. They have been members with us for years and have a wide variety of door and window systems available. They supply their systems to several SBD fabricators who provide products for a wide range of SBD refurbishments and new build developments. I know going forward they are looking to expand their SBD Police Preferred Specification (PPS) range and I look forward to continuing this long-standing relationship.”

Secured by Design

Secured by Design is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed over 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
