Secured by Design member company Heald were invited to Leeds District Police Headquarters this week, to present to a number of divisions in the West Yorkshire region at the quarterly West Yorkshire Police Development Day, which brings together private sector businesses to discuss how they can support the police in tackling crime.
Police Officers from Leeds, Kirklees, Wakefield and Bradford received an in depth and enjoyable view of the capabilities of Heald and their Secured by Design accredited products. Heald’s presentation covered a variety of topics including the company background, detailing how innovation is key to business success and how this innovation supports the prevention of attacks where vehicles are used to cause harm.
The main focus of the day was Heald’s range of surface and shallow mount products that have been designed and manufactured to suit the built environment as well as temporary events. Surface and shallow mount products is an area which is seeing an increase in demand for products that only require a minimal foundation depth due to issues such as underground utilities being close to the surface.
After the presentation, Crime Prevention Officers asked a number of questions as to how Heald’s products might suit certain challenges they face in the areas they protect, with significant interest surrounding Heald’s Matador, a Secured by Design accredited sliding bollard system.
Commenting on the Development Day, Crime Prevention Officer Ismail Laher said: “West Yorkshire Police were delighted to have Heald present to us on our Development Day. Both Philippa and Katrina engaged with us throughout and discussed in depth about the different products Heald have to offer. This was received very well by all the attendees and we were particularly impressed with the Matador sliding bollard range. We thank you again for making us aware of your product range and the work you do.”
Secured by Design Development Officer Alife Hosker said: "I am delighted that the West Yorkshire Police Crime Prevention Officer / Designing Out Crime Officer Development Day went well. It is important that officers are able to engage with companies who produce products and services which assist the Police in their fight against crime, and days like this where we combine our knowledge and expertise can only benefit our communities”.
