Pragmasis renew with SBD

Pragmasis is one of the latest companies to renew their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

Pragmasis started out in 2003 after an attempted theft of their motorcycles left Steve Briggs and his wife Sarah Walters looking for new security – but they couldn’t find anything that met their criteria. They went on to design, manufacture and retail the award-winning Torc ground anchor, the Protector range of security chains, the Shed Shackle, the Anti-Pinch Pin and more innovative and practical security products.

Quality, reliability and customer service are the company’s priorities and always have been. Pragmasis manufacture in the UK to strict specification, confident that they are producing top-quality products in a reliable and ethical way, and at the same time, are supporting local companies and the UK manufacturing industry.

Pragmasis respect the environment, and have good environmental credentials - as well as using renewable energy in the home and office (solar panels and wood-burning stove), the company are also active in the field of wildlife conservation. The business helps fund another passion, an ancient woodland wildlife site closeby called Alvecote Wood – full of ancient trees, coppice, ponds, wildflower meadows and a new 9-acre native woodland called Betty’s Wood.

Pragmasis are proud supporters of the Police Service, supporting motorcycle and bicycle safety campaigns run by police forces, lending their expertise at SBD training events for police officers.

Stephen Briggs, Pragmasis CEO, said: “From our humble days of running the business from our home workshop years ago, we have been longstanding supporters of the Police SBD scheme and we continue to support its aim to improve the quality of crime reduction measures.

“For such a small company, we have a surprisingly wide range of SBD approved products, further illustrating our commitment to top quality physical security. Ease of installation and ease of use continue to be priorities in our design process as security is only any good if it gets used! We do our best to consider the installer and the end user to achieve the best possible deterrent effect in a very wide range of scenarios.

“A growing range of SBD-approved products shows we’ve come a long way since our early days”.

SBD Development Officer Hazel Goss said: “It has been a pleasure in renewing contracts with Pragmasis who have been members with Secured by Design for just over 9 years and it is great news that they are continuing their membership. Pragmasis supply excellent security products and are one of our member companies who are always happy to support the police when they run motorcycle, scooter and bicycle security events. I look forward to working alongside them over the coming years”.
